27 Yogas in Astrology
27 Yogas in Astrology
So, this is final of the request pending from a long time. So, first of all, apologies to person who made this request as it is taken up so late but as they say, it is better to be late than never.
So, this one is very similar to the Yogi/Avyogi and Duplicate Yogi planets (http://astrosaxena.com/yady). They say that there are 27 Yogas in Astrology which are based on longitude of Sun and Moon in your Birth Chart. These are called Birth Yoga or Dina Yoga or Nitya Yoga.
Now, let’s make it simple. As we know that every zodiac sign is 30 degrees long, so 12 signs become 360 degrees. Then we have 27 nakshatras. Divide 360 degrees by 27. You will get 13 degree 20 minute, which obviously is length of a nakshatra. So, 27 yogas actually means a yoga for each nakshatra. These are -
- Vishkumbha Yoga : 0* to 13*20' ... Unfavorable.
- Priti Yoga : > 13*20' to 26*40'
- Ayushman Yoga : > 26*40' to 40*00'
- Soubhagya Yoga : > 40*00' to 53*20'
- Sobhana Yoga : > 53*00' to 66*40'
- Atiganda Yoga : > 66*40' to 80*00' ... Unfavorable.
- Sukarmana Yoga : > 80*00' to 93*20'
- Dhriti Yoga : > 93*20' to 106*40'
- Shoola / Sula Yoga : > 106*40' to 120*00' ... Unfavorable.
- Ganda Yoga : > 120*00' to 133*20' ... Unfavorable.
- Vriddhi Yoga : > 133*20' to 146*40'
- Dhruva Yoga : > 146*40' to 160*00'
- Vyaghata Yoga : > 160*00' to 173*20' ... Unfavorable.
- Harshana Yoga : > 173*20' to 186*40'
- Vajra Yoga : > 186*40' to 200*00' ... Unfavorable.
- Siddhi Yoga : > 200*00' to 213*20'
- Vyatipata Yoga : > 213*20' to 226*40' ... Unfavorable.
- Variyan Yoga : > 226*40' to 240*00'
- Parigha Yoga : > 240*00' to 253*20' ... Unfavorable.
- Shiva Yoga : > 253*20' to 266*40'
- Siddha Yoga : > 266*40' to 280*00'
- Sadhya Yoga : > 280*00' to 293*20'
- Subha Yoga : > 293*20' to 306*40'
- Shukla Yoga : > 306*40' to 320*00'
- Brahma Yoga : > 320*00' to 333*20'
- Indra / Mahendra / Aindra Yoga : > 333*20' to 346*40'
- Vaidhriti Yoga : > 346*40' to 360*00' ... Unfavorable.
Out of these 27 yogas, 9 are considered inauspicious as stated above, but again it doesn’t mean that if you are born under any of these 9 Birth Yogas, your whole life is doomed. Astrology is all inclusive. One bad position can’t over-power all other good positions in chart.
How to find your Birth Yoga - Now, as we did in Yogi/Avyogi planet calculation, count longitude degree of Sun and Moon from 0 degree Aries.
- Count the longitude degree of Sun from Aries 0 degrees. Like, I have Sun at 23 degrees Capricorn. Aries to Sagittarius = 9 signs. 1 sign = 30 degrees. 9 sign = 9x30 = 270 degrees. Sun is at 23 degrees Capricorn, so add 23 more to 270. End result is 293.
- Likewise, count the longitude degree of Moon from Aries 0 degrees. Like, I have Moon at 14 degrees Taurus. 30 degrees of Aries + 14 degrees of Taurus = 44 degrees.
- Add both numbers – 293 + 44 = 337 degree.
- So, this is the final degree count of 337 degree and all I need to do here is to see in which yoga above this degree falls. It falls in Indra/Mahindra Yoga (333*20' to 346*40’) and it is considered as auspicious one.
I can write the results of every yoga based on the nature of nakshatra lord like Vishkumbha Yoga (Ashvini Nakshatra) will be ruled by Ketu and Priti Yoga will be ruled by Venus but honestly, it won’t affect our lives as much because other things, like whole chart, dignity of planets, condition of houses, yogas and dasha/transit, will all have its impact. And in that crowd, the impact similar to birth yoga can be interpreted through any of these things too.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any doubt, query or comment.
Thanks,
