Karmic Connection Series - Sigmund Freud & Carl Gustav Jung

This is next article in series of looking at Karmic Connection between two souls towards each other. Please go through the introductory article here - https://www.astrosaxena.com/kcs. Today, we would look at charts of Sigmund Freud (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigmund_Freud) and Carl Gustav Jung (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Jung).  So, let’s begin –

Birth Details – Following are their birth details available online –

Sigmund Freud was born on May 6, 1856 at 6:30 PM, Pribor, Moravskoslezský, Czech Republic

Carl Gustav Jung was born on July 26, 1875 at 7.29 pm, Kesswil (Switzerland).

Chart Introduction – Following are their chart details –

Sigmund Freud was Libra ascendant with Ketu in 1st house/Libra, Jupiter in 6th house/Pisces, Rahu-Sun-Venus in 7th house/Aries, Mercury-Moon in 8th house/Taurus, Saturn in 9th house/Gemini and Mars in 12th house/Virgo.

Carl Gustav Jung was Sagittarius ascendant with Saturn in 3rd house/Aquarius, Rahu in 4th house/Pisces, Moon in 5th house/Aries, Venus-Mercury in 7th house/Gemini, Sun in 8th house/Cancer, Ketu in 10th house/Virgo and Mars in 12th house/Mars.

Association – Now, if someone doesn’t know about these two legendary figures then here is a small introduction. Any discussion on Human Psychology and Psycho-Analysis cannot be complete without mention of these two legendary figures. Sigmund Freud was pioneer in the field of Psycho-Analysis and Carl Gustav Jung was one of Sigmund Freud’s students. Their association was largely over letters as they both were from different countries. Their association started in 1906 and lasted till 1914 when differences of opinion grew between and they parted their ways. But by that time, they had done enough contribution in the field of Psychology and their letters, recovered after Carl Jung’s passing away, were considered as highly important for further research and understanding of the complex subject of Psychology. Their letters were later published as a book too (https://www.amazon.in/Freud-Jung-Letters-Correspondence-Bollingen/dp/0691098905). It won’t be an exaggeration to say that Sigmund Freud had the biggest impact on Western Minds in 20th Century. It is not a coincidence that even today when Netflix decided to make Mindhunter Series, there were many references to Freud while understanding criminal psychology. Reading or listening these two legendary personalities can help us in understanding our own mind in right perspective.

Pressing Points - Here are common points in both charts –

Freud was Libra ascendant and Jung was Sagittarius ascendant. It creates a 3/11 relationship (https://www.astrosaxena.in/astrology/info/495/relationship-synastry-post--3) between them as Jung’s Sagittarius ascendant is Freud’s 3rd house and Freud’s Libra ascendant is Jung’s 11th house. 3rd house is house of making efforts and 11th house is house of gains. 3/11 is always a relationship where 1 person makes effort and other person gains out of it. As Jung approached Freud as a student, it was obvious that Freud had to make an effort in sharing his knowledge with Jung and Jung gained out of this association.

Then Jung had Moon in Aries and Freud had Rahu-Sun-Venus in Aries. It shows a strong connection between two souls. Especially when Jung’s Moon and Freud’s Sun both were in Bharani Nakshatra. Bharani is nakshatra of death & re-birth and occult/hidden things which include human psychology.

Then Freud’s Saturn in Gemini is getting super-imposed over Jung’s Venus-Mercury in Gemini. This shows that Freud’s association might have brought discipline and seriousness in Jung’s skills & creativity.

Another fact about their respective positions of Saturn is that Freud had Saturn in Gemini and Jung had Saturn in Aquarius. Their Saturn had 5/9 relation (https://www.astrosaxena.in/astrology/info/468/relationship-synastry-post--5). This relation is always a knowledge or creativity oriented relation because this is what 5th house and 9th house represent.

But the thing which attracts my eyes in matters of their karmic connection in field of knowledge and as Teacher-Student is nodes position again. In last article, we had seen that how identical nodes of Osho and Maa Sheela had created a strong karma between them.

Likewise, in the charts of Freud and Jung, we can see this connection again. Freud had Jupiter in Pisces and Jung had Rahu in Pisces. So it was obvious that when these 2 souls came together, them came together for matter of knowledge (Jupiter) and Imagination/Sub-Conscious Mind (Pisces).

Same thing can be seen from other way around too. Jung had Jupiter in Jupiter and not only Jung’s Jupiter is falling on Freud’s ascendant but Freud also had Ketu in Libra. So, this again links node with Jupiter.

So, it was very clear that if these 2 people will come together then they will come because of knowledge oriented matters and they will take roles of Teacher/Student.

Mahadashas – As discussed, their association was from 1906 to 1914. Freud was in Saturn MD during this time and Saturn is in 9th house/Gemini in his chart, the house of knowledge sharing. Jung was in Rahu MD and as we discussed, Jung’s Rahu was falling over Freud’s Jupiter. So, it was obvious for him to feel gravitated towards a Jupiterian personality like Freud during this dasha. But as it normally happens, whenever nodes and Saturn get involved with karma of people, it may not be a pleasant karma and it may not end well between the two. Hence, they parted their ways after about 8 years of association as differences of opinion grew between them.

Annual Transits – Another very interesting fact here is that their association started in 1906 when Saturn was in Aquarius. It was Saturn Return for Carl Jung as he was born with Saturn in Aquarius and their association ended in 1914 when Saturn was in Gemini. It was Saturn Return for Sigmund Freud as he was born with Saturn in Gemini. :)

Conclusion – So, we can see that there was huge karma between these 2 souls but their karma was in matters of knowledge and as teacher/student. Let’s conclude with quotes from both of them –

The mind is like an iceberg, it floats with one-seventh of its bulk above water. – Sigmund Freud.

Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves. – Carl Gustav Jung.

Hope this helps. Please post any comment or query you may have.
