Let’s look at important things here –

 

Ketu – Ketu represents Isolation, Separation, Spirituality, Mystical World, Other Dimension means things related to Alien World. It also represents Son, Dog, Intuition, Research Ability, Curious Nature, things which we have already achieved in past life and not much concerned to perform in this life.

Cancer - As Ashlesha is a part of Cancer, Cancer sign and its representations become important. Cancer is 4th sign of Zodiac Belt, hence it represents the things represented by 4th house like Mother, Mother's Care, Emotions, Taking Care of Others and Nourishment etc. Cancer is consisted of 2 and half Nakshatras namely Punarvasu, Pushyami and Ashlesha. Cancer's lord is Moon, which again represents almost same things which Cancer and 4th house represents.

 

Moon - As Moon rules Cancer, Moon's position and dignity is important to know about the overall functioning of any planet in Ashlesha/Cancer.

 

Mercury - As Ashlesha is ruled by Mercury, Mercury's position and dignity will also have an important role in functioning and results of any planet in Ashlesha.

 

Houses Involved – Also, we can’t afford to forget the houses involved as a planet can be ruling different houses and sitting in different house for every person as per ascendant and planet’s position. To know overall affect, we have to consider the houses involved as those areas of life are being impacted.

 

Interpretation of Ketu in Ashlesha Nakshatra – Ketu is in enemy sign here and in nakshatra of Mercury. But besides that, the nature of Ashlesha is not great anyways. As Ashlesha shows our insecurities & clinging attitude and it is one of the most difficult nakshatras, this is a difficult position. But every good has a bad attached with it and every bad has some good attached with it. Ketu represents spirituality, meditation and research. Ashlesha also represents Kundalini energy. So, Ketu in Ashlesha can represent people who can serve others in their emotional or psychological issues which Ashlesha represents. So, they can be healers in this field. They can keep this past-life expertise over dealing with psychological issues of others. As Ashlesha is nakshatra representing kundalini energy, they can serve people through yoga or meditation too which can help others in their kundalini/chakra activation and further spiritual evolution.

 

As Ashlesha is about clinging and represented by entwined snakes, in relationship matters also this insecure nature shows up and person can be clinging to their partner. As Ketu is headless, sometimes they don't even know that they are clinging on to a poisonous snake like person. Hence, in relationship matters, it is very difficult planetary position where they don’t know the Letting-Go of their love interests. They need to learn the lesson that Letting-Go is much easier than clinging or holding-on to someone. Clinging brings pain and suffering whereas Letting-Go relieves the person. As Ketu itself represents separation, split, break-up etc, if Ketu is getting involved in relationship matters in a chart, it is never a good placement. Person will be feeling separated in relationship either physically or mentally or both ways. This will bring a tug-of-war kind of result where they may feel separated when they are in relationship but when they are single, they may desire relationship. As Ketu remains illusion, possibility of cheating is high in relationship.  

So, the biggest challenge for them is to overpower this feeling of insecurity. They need to realize that nothing and none is going to stay forever with anyone. Once they have this realization then same position can be utilized in spiritual pursuits, meditation, psychological/emotional counselling and kundalini awakening.

Role of Mercury - Mercury's placement is important to guide Ketu in right direction, being Ashlesha's lord.

 

Other Factors – And of course, we need to consider conjunction, aspects, house lordship, house position and dashas etc to know the exact results of Ketu in Ashlesha. So, we always need to take a holistic view of chart rather than just 1 planetary position.
