Rashi Tulya Navamsha
Rashi Tulya Navamsha
There was a request to write about the concept of Rashi Tulya Navamsha. At some places, the same concept is also referred as Navamsha Tulya Rashi. As I understand, both are one and same thing. Difference is because of our point of view, from where we want to see things; i.e. from Rashi or from Navamasha.
Let’s try to understand this concept of Rashi Tulya Navamsha or Navamsha Tulya Rashi on following points –
Rashi – Here, it refers to our Lagna or D-1 chart.
Tulya – The root word is Tula. It means Comparison.
Navamsha – It refers to our D-9 chart.
So, in the most generic terms, Rashi Tulya Navamsha means comparison between D-1 chart and D-9 chart. It is a study to see the kind of results a planet is giving in D-1 and D-9 charts respectively and if there is any connection between the results of same planet in these two charts.
Now, there are a couple of ways to do this comparison. These are as follows –
Sign Wise – One comparison we can do between D-1 and D-9 chart is to check the sign positions of Planets in both charts. For example – I have Jupiter in Cancer in D-1 chart but I have Sun-Mercury in Cancer in D-9 chart. So, Rashi Tulya Navamsha is the way by which we can try to find connection between Jupiter-Sun-Mercury in Cancer from both chart. We can interpret it as a person who is gaining authority and recognition in life through sharing his knowledge and wisdom. We can take another example. I have Moon in Taurus in both D-1 and D-9 chart which makes it Vargottama Planet but in D-9, it is also with Ketu. So, Moon-Ketu combination in D-1/D-9 chart shows that native can have a research oriented mind. Like this, we can apply other representations of the same planets too.
House-wise – Then there is another way of comparing D-1 chart with D-9 chart which is house-wise comparison. For example – I have Jupiter in Cancer in D-1 chart but I have Jupiter in Virgo in D-9 chart. So, by this method, Jupiter is going 3 houses away from Jupiter’s position in D-1 chart. So, it is activating 3rd house energy which indicates that during Jupiter MD, I may have to involve myself into 3rd house related activities like business, communication and teaching etc. which makes sense.
Likewise, the number of houses gap are there for a planet from its D-1 to D-9 position, it is activating that house energy and will bring relevant results in that planet’s dasha.
They have also given different names to the gap of different houses like Dhanamsha, Sukhamsha etc. but remembering these names will further confuse you. Better to keep it simple that if Sun is in Aries in D-1 chart and in Leo in D-9 chart (5 houses gap between Aries to Leo) then Sun MD will activate 5th house energy along with Sun.
Third way - We can also analyze the different planets in different charts as per the nature of chart. This is what I follow if I am requested to do divisional charts analysis. First of all, it is important to know the right purpose of divisional charts. Like, normally D-9 is looked for marriage related things but I like to see it for someone’s righteous life path.
As per me, Jupiter’s position in birth chart will give the results to person in his overall life matters like, work, relation, health, wealth etc. but Jupiter in D-9 chart is only related with person’s righteous life path. If person is following his righteous life path then he can expect better results from Jupiter MD, else not.
Also, my views on D-1 Vs other D-charts remain as is. D-1 remains the most important chart for the person as other D-charts are coming out of D-1 only. If we don’t have D-1 chart then we can’t even imagine to make or read other D-charts. There can be many other reasons too but this one reason is enough to give preference to D-1 chart over all other charts.
Different Techniques – Also, we need to understand that whatever we can read about a person through this technique of Rashi Tulya Navamsha and other techniques, we can read the same things from simply analyzing D-1 itself.
Then why we have all these different techniques? Because we have so many different people. Everyone’s mind works in a different ways. So, teachers from different times have developed different techniques to make things understandable to all. So, all techniques are aligned with each other rather than in conflict with each other.
It is just like 1000s of meditation techniques are developed to reach a single state of no-thought. Different techniques for different types of people.
Conclusion – This is my little understanding on Rashi Tulya Navamsha.
Hope this helps. Thanks,
