Special Lagnas in Vedic Astrology

There was a request to write about some Special Lagnas in Vedic Astrology. Let’s cover this topic on following points –

Rising Sign/Ascendant – This is the most common and primarily read Lagna. Rising Sign gets decided by the birth details of a Native. I have always paid most attention and importance to this Lagna Chart. All other Lagnas or Charts are in confirmation with Rising Sign Lagna. They can be utilized to confirm things predicted from Birth Chart.

Hora Lagna – This Lagna can be found in Jagannath Hora software mentioned as HL in any chart. This Lagna is seen to understand the financial stability of a person and overall well-being. Please look at the house/sign where HL is mentioned in your chart at Jagannath Hora software and make it as ascendant.

Then look at Ascendant Lord’s position and dignity. Also, look at benefic/malefic impact on ascendant. If ascendant lord is strong and placed in Kendra or Trikon houses, it shows good financial foundation for native. Also, if ascendant has more benefic planet impact then also it shows good financial support system for person.

It doesn’t mean that someone who has weak Lagna Lord or malefic impact on Lagna can’t be good financially. Only thing is that he has to put an extra effort to make his money and financial stability may come later in life. Best example is my chart where my HL is Leo where I have Rahu-Saturn conjunction with Mars’ 8th aspect and even Lagna Lord Sun is in enemy sign in 6th house/Capricorn. Still, I got my financial stability though it came with delays in life.

As it is chart of someone’s financial well-being, it is important to check 2nd house and 11th house from HL. Strength and Position of planets in these house or of these house lords can again indicate about person’s financial stability or even source of that stability.

Indu Lagna – It is almost similar to HL in purpose and method of interpretation. It is also seen for someone’s finances and wealth.

Shree Lagna – It is another lagna to check the wealth factor in life and should be interpreted like HL only.

Ghati Lagna – Another Special Lagna is Ghati Lagna. This Lagna can be found in Jagannath Hora software mentioned as GL in any chart. This Lagna is seen to understand the power and authority of a person and overall recognition in sociaty. Please look at the house/sign where GL is mentioned in your chart at Jagannath Hora software and make it as ascendant.

Again, check the strength of ascendant and ascendant lord. Benefic/Malefic impacts on ascendant and ascendant lord. Now, as we are looking for person’s authority and recognition in society, 10th house from GL becomes important. So, we need to see the planets in 10th house from GL and 10th house lord position.

Again, more benefic planets and good dignity planets impacting 10th house and 10th house lord, better authority person may have. If malefic planets are impacting 10th house and 10th house lord, then again authority or recognition will come with delay, hard work and perseverance in life.

As I largely work with Rising Sign Ascendant, I don’t have much experience of interpreting charts from these Lagnas. Hence, please consider this information as only theoretical knowledge and not practical one.
