Interpreting Transits in Divisional Charts

Interpreting Transits in Divisional Charts

One of the biggest mistakes we can do while interpreting or understanding annual transits of planets is to apply the same transit of D-1 chart in other D-charts alike. Like, Jupiter will be in Pisces in Sky and D-1 charts as per sidereal zodiac from 13th April, 2022 but it will be a huge mistake if we think that Jupiter will be in Pisces in all the other D-charts too.

This article will help us in understanding how we can use transiting planets for analyzing other D-charts except D-1. Let’s understand on following points -

Reason – Now, why we can’t use same transit positions of planets in D-1 and other D-charts alike?

It is because planetary position in D-1 chart is the actual planetary position in Sky but the planetary position in other D-charts are not the actual planetary position in Sky. They are based on calculations done on the basis of D-1 planetary positions.

For example, I was born with Jupiter in Cancer in D-1 chart as Jupiter was transiting in sky in Cancer at that time but in my D-9 chart Jupiter is in Virgo, in D-10 chart Jupiter is in Taurus and it changes its positions in other D-charts too. But in Sky, Jupiter remains in Cancer only.

Hence, when we are judging a transiting planet in Sky then we can use that position in D-1 chart only. Like, Jupiter is transiting in Pisces from 13th April, 2022. So, I can use Jupiter in Pisces transit for my 5th house/Pisces related matters, being a Scorpio ascendant, but I can’t use Jupiter in Pisces transit for other D-charts as Jupiter will be changing signs in different D-charts as per the calculations applicable.

How to use annual transits of planets in other D-charts? – So, this is the way.

a. Suppose I want to see Jupiter transit effect on my D-9 chart from 13th April, 2022 to 22nd April, 2023 then 1st of all I should make chart of 13th April, 2022 after Jupiter moves in Pisces. Details I am taking is 13th April, 2022 at 1.30 pm New Delhi, India. This shows Jupiter-Sun in Pisces in D-1 chart.

b. But if I look at D-9 chart of this transit chart then Jupiter is with Mercury in Cancer.

c. So, if I want to see how this coming Jupiter transit will give me result in D-9 chart, I should apply this Jupiter in Cancer position in my D-9 chart. In my D-9 chart, I am actually Cancer ascendant only which means that Jupiter will be in my 1st house/Cancer in D-9 to start with this transit of Jupiter in Pisces in D-1 charts.

d. But then Jupiter won’t remain in Cancer in D-9 for throughout the year of April, 2022 to April, 2023. On 29th April, 2022, Jupiter will shift into Leo sign in D-9 chart. Again, we would need to make a chart of 29th April, 2022.

e. Now, if I want to see this shift in D-9 chart, I should apply this Jupiter in Leo position in my D-9 chart. In my D-9 chart, as I am Cancer ascendant, Jupiter will be in my 2nd house/Leo from 29th April, 2022.

f. Then again on 15th May, 2022, Jupiter will shift into Virgo sign in D-9 chart. Again, we would need to make a chart of 15th May, 2022.

g. Needless to say that if I want to see this shift in D-9 chart, I should apply this Jupiter in Virgo position in my D-9 chart. In my D-9 chart, as I am Cancer ascendant, Jupiter will be in my 3rd house/Virgo from 15th May, 2022.

h. Then again, next shift of Jupiter in Libra in D-9 will happen on June 4th, 2022 and we have to do the whole exercise again.

i. Like this, we have to keep switching the signs of Jupiter in our birth D-9 chart to read its transit after every 15-20 days as per the position of Jupiter in D-9 chart in the annual transits.

Same process needs to be followed for different planets if we want to see their positions in D-9 chart in annual transit.

And same process needs to be followed for every divisional chart if we want to see planetary positions in different D-charts in annual transit. For example, if you want to see result of coming Jupiter transit in D-10 chart then make the chart of moment from 13th April, 2022 and then look at Jupiter’s position in D-10 chart and then apply the same sign position of Jupiter in your D-10 chart.

Hope this helps. Thanks,
