Hari om.
Guru Purnima is celebrated on Full Moon day of Ashadha month which is on 13 July 2022. It is also called Vyasa Purnima - Birth anniversary of Sage Veda Vyasa .Although this is an auspicious day every year but as Jupiter is in Pisces this year, we can consider it as more auspicious.
This day is celebrated in the traditions of Hinduism, Buddhism and even Jainism. In Jainism Lord Mahavira is honoured by his disciples. Similarly in Buddhism this day is dedicated to Lord Buddha.
The full moon night of this month of Ashadh is called Guru Purnima. The moon in the month of Ashadh is surrounded by clouds. According to Osho ,disciples carry various samskaras of previous birth, their doubts and question are like dark clouds in the sky ( symbolism of month of Ashadh). Only that person is Guru who can shine like a moon amidst all dark clouds and if he can remove this darkness of his disciples’ doubts and questions. Hence Ashadh Purnima is Guru Purnima.
Even western world has adopted Eastern culture to pay their gratitude towards spiritual masters for all the knowledge, wisdom and to receive their blessings and guidance for continuance learning and self-evolution.
Traditionally Guru means one who dispels the darkness and Purnima means Full Moon.
We know Astrologically Jupiter is given the title of Guru and Moon represents our mind, emotions, thoughts and feelings.
What do you think we should do on this auspicious day?
Well , some of you may say I don’t care about such days, some will say today I am going to send whatsapp message to my Teachers and so on.
There is no dearth of ideas on social media to guide you what all rituals one should follow. But the question is, is it limited to just one day when we have this feeling of Gratitude towards our spiritual Masters?
There is one Guru which is in us and we are not aware of Him or I can sum up in this way that may be our consciousness level is not that high to realize the presence of Guru within us.
This Guru is constantly guiding, supporting, nourishing and assisting us with the best possible answers to our conflicts, turmoil but sadly we fail to listen.
And those who have attuned themselves to the voice of this inner Guru have realized themselves and their spiritual path.
Who is this Guru that I am talking about?
It is no other than your Soul.
Our soul is the purest form of love, some scriptures say that soul lives in our Heart and it is very minute.
Now the question arises, how to realize existence of our soul?
How to connect with this divine bliss which is there within us from the very beginning but we have failed to realize its presence?
Answer is very simple.
Meditate , Meditate and Meditate.
When you take time for yourself from the hustle and bustle of life, away from the sensory desires, from the past and the future and focus on that inner divine light you will get all the answers that you have always wanted.
This Guru Purnima lets pledge to honour our divine Guru within us.
Let’s not keep this tradition only for a single day but for lifetime.
