As we have always seen that mythological stories always play an important role in interpretation of Nakshatras, but this section of Zodiac/Nakshatra Scheme is naturally infamous for bringing some catastrophic events in life of individual or at mundane global level. It is more so when malefic planets are either placed on this axis in birth chart or they are transiting through this axis. Most recent example is chaos of Covid-19 which started along with transit of Rahu in Ardra Nakshatra in Sep, 2019 and it reached its full swing when Ketu entered in Moola Nakshatra in Jab, 2020. So, this axis can bring devastating results on its own. Hence, we should understand this axis as is regardless of any mythology attached with it.

Only for theoretical record, we can say that Ardra Nakshatra’s story is an extension of same story of Rohini Nakshatra where Lord Brahma takes the form of Deer to stealthily chase Rohini. Then story goes that all the Gods approach Lord Shiva to prevent this immoral act of incest by Brahma to Rohini. Then Lord Shiva took his destructive incarnation of Rudra and all the Gods combined their powers to bestow it on Rudra in form of Weapon/Arrow. Then Rudra shot the arrow at Brahma and cut one of his heads off. By doing this, Rudra prevented the immoral act of incest by Brahma on Rohini.

Now, let’s understand the axis of Ardra, Moola and Purva-Ashadha.

Ardra – As we can see from our recent experiences and also from the story of Rudra hitting Lord Brahma, this is a nakshatra which can bring major chaotic events and transformations in life. These changes can be in any area of life; personal or professional, and as discussed, even at global level. These changes have the capacity to turn lives upside down.
Now, the matter is how to deal with those changes? This is where Moola and Purva-Ashadha can bring some guidance and direction.

Moola – Moola simply means and represents Roots. Hence, it represents digging deep to find the root cause of some problem. It also represents past karmas. So, Ardra represents major chaos in life and on the other end Moola guides us to search for the root cause of that chaos. While going through difficult times in life, it is very easy for us to project issues or cause behind issues over others that because of them this situation has developed but Moola tells us not to be in such a hurry. Moola wants to dig deep, look within and look in to our own past actions which might have caused the present chaos of Ardra to take place. Basically, Moola is guiding us to take responsibility on Self.
This is where deity of Moola; Goddess Nrriti, also becomes important in understanding the guidance of Moola. Nrriti means Avoiding

Extremes or be in balance or follow the middle path. So, this can also work as a guidance if we reflect back and realize that majority of our problems take ominous shapes only when we ignore all indications from Universe and keep on crossing the limitations or extremes of any situation. So, Goddess Nrriti is guiding us to follow the middle path and avoid extremes.

So, Moola’s guidance is to look within, dig deep and find your own faults or irresponsible extreme behaviors which might have caused this major chaos of Ardra to occur. This way, not only we can handle the current chaos in better way but we can also avoid similar chaos in future.

Purva-Ashadha – This is a nakshatra of higher education, guidance, teaching and counseling. As it is in middle portion of Sagittarius, we can also understand it as guidance from Guru.

So, this is another way we can deal or handle the chaos; i.e. through gaining knowledge, wisdom and working over guidance of someone who is wiser than us. With us, biggest issue is that we like to collect all information, knowledge and guidance for storage purposes. We talk a lot about Meditation but we never meditate. To handle the chaos and transformation of Ardra, we need to walk the talk.

With knowledge, wisdom and guidance of Guru, we can be more and more aware which again would give us ability to handle the current chaos in better way but we can also avoid similar chaos in future.

Conclusion – So, Moola and Purva-Ashadha both are giving us the guidance to deal with chaos of Ardra through self-inquiry and guidance/wisdom respectively. These are the only two ways to handle this difficult axis of Ardra-Moola-Purva Ashadha.

Hope this helps.
