As we have always seen that mythological stories always play an important role in interpretation of Nakshatras, so it will be worthy to reproduce the mythological stories of Uttara Phalguni Nakshatra, Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra and Uttara Bhadrapada Nakshatra here –
Uttara Phalguni Nakshatra - The main story related with Uttara-Phalguni is regarding the birth of 12 Sons of Aditi and Sage Kashyap who were known as Adityas. These are Sun/Vivasvan, Aryaman (The Deity of this Nakshatra), Dhatra, Tvastar, Pushan, Savitar, Mitra, Varun, Amasa, Bhasa, Vishnu & Shakra.
Another story is when a Sage asked King Janaka about how he runs his kingdom when he is surrounded by all the luxury and wealth? Janaka told him to take a Lamp and go for a round of palace while making sure that light of lamp doesn't extinguishes. After Sage returned, Janaka asked how was the Palace? Sage said, I was totally focused on keeping the light of lamp. There was no time to look at Palace. Janaka replied, the same way I run my Kingdom.
Purva Bhadrapada Nakshatra - As we are in the final portion of Nakshatra scheme and dealing with last 3 nakshatra, things connected with these nakshatras are spiritual and more connected with liberation rather than mythological texts. We can see that symbol of "Front Part of Funeral Pyre" and A Goat, which is commonly used for Sacrificial Rites, are very much indicative of liberation path. So, any story related with final liberation of soul can be connected with this nakshatra.
Uttara Bhadrapada Nakshatra - Again, as we are moving towards last portion of nakshatra, it is kind of closing time. Also, closing time or time of liberation is also the time of destruction. So any story related with destruction can be linked with this nakshatra because it is the initial step towards creation again. So, we can link destruction through Shiva's 3rd Eye,Shiva's Tandav or wars like Ramayan or Mahabharat with this nakshatra.
Now, let’s understand the axis of Uttara Phalguni, Purva Bhadrapada and Uttara Bhadrapada.
This axis can very well and very easily be understood from the story of King Janak who lives in all the luxuries of life but still remains fully conscious of his duties and responsibilities towards his Kingdom.
Uttara Phalguni is the nakshatra of gaining authority and recognition and working hard towards it. It can also be a nakshatra of reaping the fruits of hard work or gaining the benefits after hard work.
But if person becomes too much about work, authority, recognition and fame, then sooner or later the ego will be amplified and he will be feeling that he is the one who is running the show. This supreme authority can easily bring a King-like attitude and sense of doer enhances a great deal.
This is where the Purva Bhadrapada and Uttara Bhadrapada Nakshatras can bring the guidance. Common theme around them is that they both are related with spirituality and they tell us that someone else is running the show. Even if a person could become King then it is because Universe blessed him with energy and ability to gain it. There are many people who are born with physical ailments and weak immune system which prevents them from achieving big. So, even this ability of working towards your path and eventually achieving it is also coming from a higher source.
Basically, both these nakshatras are telling us that our efforts are important but they are not all important. Man must put efforts from his side but then he needs to rely on divine energy to bring the result. It is like, if you want to sell something in market then at least you would have to be present in market place and then trust the Universe that it will send the customer. So, we still need to do this much effort from our side.
Representation of Funeral Pyre for both Bhadrapada Nakshatras also indicate that our efforts and ambitions mean only till the day when divine doesn’t suck out the energy from body. This funeral pyre representation can be seen as the actual death or metaphorical death.
This axis also tells us that there is nothing wrong in looking for and gaining the authority and recognition as long as person doesn’t remain attached with the materialistic gains and is spiritually conscious about his main purpose in life.
Conclusion – Basically it is about inner renunciation where you enjoy everything but don’t have any attachment towards anything in this world.
Hope this helps.
